Uli Hegge (born '66) started, while attending Law School in Muenster, "DaWIN" in 1991 - then one of the biggest European Internet projects with the German Scientific Network DFN. With other partners he founded the computer trade magazine "UpToDate" (80,000 circulation).
After graduating from Law School he was co-responsible for setting up online activities with both the German newspaper “Schweriner Zeitung” (Burda) in 1994 and from 1995 at Gruner & Jahr. He started stern.de (http://stern.de) and conceptualized Fireball (leading German Web search engine, became part of Lycos Europe). In 1997 he was appointed Member of Management Board at G+J EMS.
In 1998 Hegge co-founded and lead e-dict (eCommerce entertainment applications - sold to Gauselmann Group) as Managing Partner. In 1999 he co-founded wunderloop and headed the company as CEO until 2008. At the time of his departure wunderloop was the European market leader for online marketing targeting/user interest based technologies. wunderloop was sold to to world market leader AudienceScience in 2010.
He continued his career as Managing Director of Hubert Burda Media’s Media Innovation Lab and Burda Information Services until 2010.
From January 2013 until September 2014 he served as CSO at comdirect bank AG, responsible for Marketing, Sales, Product Management and Advisory Services.
In December 2015 he joined AppNexus as VP Strategic Market Development for the DACH region, and set up Strategic & Regulatory Affairs within AppNexus starting November 2017. Since April 2018 Uli was Advisor to AppNexus' Executive Committee (~ Executive Board). He provided advice and support on both market and regulatory matters, and mentored a few select AppNexians.
Starting October 2020 he joined InfoSum as SVP, CE, where he was responsible for the development of InfoSum in Central Europe. He moved into an advisor role in August 2022.
Since January 2024 he serves as CEO of the European netID Foundation.
He continues his advisory and non-executive/supervisory board positions at Staedtler and other companies (different stages).
